Common Ground Fair: September 25-27, 2020, Unity

Fair goers enjoy stopping by the Maine Council of Reflexologists booth in the Health & Healing Tent to taste short reflexology sessions of the feet, hands or ears. This has been a tradition for Maine reflexologists to offer reflexology at the Common Ground Fair for many years...from 1987, when one lone reflexologist, Janet Stetser worked at the fair. Reflexologists offer mini sessions at the fair for a donation.

Tri for a Cure: July 18, 2020 (Expo day only), Southern Maine Community College, South Portland

As the Maine Council of Reflexologists has grown, so has our Outreach program. Now we offer reflexology at this event and other health fairs. Each year, over a thousand women gather in South Portland to swim, bike & run as they Tri for a Cure in Maine's only all-women's triathlon. We offer free reflexology mini sessions to the athletes after they finish the event on the second day. We also offer reflexology to others attending the first day of the event for a fee. Last year, it was offered at $1 a minute. Half the money raised we give to the Maine Cancer Foundation, the rest goes to MCR to the reflexologists working. This event is held in South Portland.

World Reflexology Week September 23-28, 2019
World Reflexology Week is always the last full week of September. Many events take place this week, so watch for more information.

Mercy Hospital Event
On Friday evening, September 28, 2012, three MCR members participated in Mercy Hospital’s “Cancer Survivorship Celebration”. The event, held at Mercy’s new Fore River Campus was open to the public and featured a gallery of artwork by survivors, survivor storytelling, music, food, hula-hooping and various booths providing information about staying healthy and happy. MCR was invited to participate in this event because the event’s organizers observed, and was impressed with, our booth this summer at Tri for a Cure in South Portland! Throughout the three-hour event two reflexologists, Suzanne Girlando and Claudia Darneille, gave free mini-sessions of 15 minutes each while MCR’s education committee chairperson, Kate Winant-NRCB, functioned as the group spokesperson and also provided hand reflexology.
